Mike Garton becomes President of the Healey Drivers Club

‘Mike Garton, the Fellowships past Chairman, has just been enrolled as President of the Healey Drivers Club following the departure of Peter Healey from the post.

The Healey Drivers Club is the oldest club for the Healey cars being built by Donald Healey at Warwick. Founded in 1955 the club has always had a member of the Healey family as its President until Mike's recent appointment.

The Healey Drivers Club is primarily based in Devon & Cornwall the home of the Healey family and embraces all Healey and Austin Healey models. Separately In 1960 BMC formed the Austin Healey Club and although British Leyland removed its support the club still actively continues today. Mike's earliest association with Warwick came through the ownership of his first Sprite in 1959 when he commenced building and racing them. This activity included Geoff Healey's Warwick built prototypes. He has had a close relationship with the club since then and 2018 will see the 60th Anniversary of the Sprite.

We wish Mike great success in his new role as President.’
