FMI Past President Tony Ball, MBE wins IMI Outstanding Individual Award at star studded dinner 2016


Senior industry representatives, government officials and British icons all gathered in London to celebrate the outstanding contributions to the sector, as well as the launch of the IMI and ITN Production programme ‘Driving Change’.

Guests were joined by former England rugby player Will Greenwood, one of Britain’s most successful marketeers Tony Ball MBE, his son Michael Ball OBE, and British racing driver Vicki Butler-Henderson.

FMI steps in with three year motor industry bursary

Training for a career in Britain’s most successful industry just got easier with the launch of a new bursary from the Fellowship of the Motor Industry (FMI).

Designed to assist motor industry trainees, students and apprentices through their studies, the three year bursary will form part of a sponsorship package with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). Funds to be provided by the FMI will contribute to the cost of training, books and other learning materials and expenses to help trainees manage the costs of their study.


Calling all Austin Ex-Apprentices

If you are an Ex-Austin Apprentices and are not on the Ex-Apprentices Association circulation list they would very much like to hear from you. A number of Fellows are Austin Ex-Apprentices, including the President, Tony Ham and the current Chairman Peter Lewis-Jones. If you would like to establish contact with the Ex-Apprentices Association the details are on the attached form.


Past President Jim Hughes receives a unique global accolade from NGK

NGK has paid a unique global accolade to a man who more than anyone was responsible for building the company’s reputation in the UK.

The leading manufacturer of original equipment (OE) spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK Lambda sensors has honoured FMI Past President Jim Hughes who worked to establish the NGK brand in the UK automotive aftermarket over three decades.

Jim (79) has been presented with a certificate and a trophy marking his long-standing service to the company.


RIP Sir Jack Brabham OBE

Sir Jack Brabham passed away peacefully on May 19th 2014.

Sir Jack was unique in being the only man to win the World Championship in a car he built himself. He was also the first driver to be knighted for services to Motorsport. The Australian Grand Prix winner’s trophy will be named in honour of triple world champion, Sir Jack Brabham.

Sir Jack was a supporter of both BEN and the FMI and can be seen in the attached picture with David Jordan in the Fellowship Bar at Lynwood.
