The Fellowship's Annual Golf Day was held at the Hadley Wood Golf Club
situated near Barnet on Monday 19th June. Hadley Wood is one of the finest
courses in the area and was laid out by Dr Alister MacKenzie, the renowned
architect and designer of Augusta National.

We had 7 Fellows attending on the day and joined the prestigious and long
standing Motor Trade Golf Society on one of their guest days. This is the
fifth year we have joined them and without their generous invitation to
allow the FMI to join them we would struggle to arrange a day worthy of

The day commenced with scrumptious bacon rolls carved from a joint by the
head chef and served in the very elegant Clubhouse restaurant. Play
commenced from a 2 tee start which allowed the group to conclude our
rounds in good time. We were blessed with excellent weather on the day
which was sunny throughout with a moderate breeze to help keep everybody
cool.  The course presented a good challenge to everybody's golfing skills
and was in spectacular condition. The greens were particularly well
prepared and required great care and attention to prevent any major
mishaps.  Following the round there was time to sit in the sunshine
outside the Clubhouse, overlooking the course and enjoy some well-deserved
refreshments. It is of course obligatory that the shots that got away are
discussed at length at this time. We were then treated to a fantastic 3
course lunch starting with a choice of starters, a choice of carved beef
or lamb (or both) main course followed by generous helpings of various

The winner of the FMI competition and the Presidents Bowl, retaining the
crown for the fourth consecutive time with a spectacular 39 points was Bob
Cadman. Bob's score was the highest of the day and won him the MTGS
guest prize. Our runner up was Steve Fulford with a respectable 36 points
and won him the Henley Challenge Cup and the 2nd placed MTGS guest
prize. The longest drive and nearest the pin prizes were won by Bob Cadman
and Brian Childs respectively. The prizes were presented by the MTGS 2017
President Paul Williams.

Following the presentation, Chairman Brian Childs, thanked the MTGS for
their generosity in allowing the Fellowships participation and wished them
good success in the future. Special thanks were offered to Golf Manager
Terry Wills who organised the whole event in spectacular fashion. A short
explanation about the FMI was made with the suggestion for MTGS members to
consider joining our Fellowship.

In conclusion, the day was a tremendous success and we look forward to
joining next year’s event.
